It may surprise you that one of the most interesting destinations in Paris is a cemetery, but you would be surprise at the number of visitors who flock there all throughout the year. You see, the Père Lachaise Cemetery is not just any cemetery. It is filled with some of the city’s most prestigious artists, writers, singers, inventors — indeed, the famous dearly departed from all over the world have their remains resting in this hauntingly beautiful cemetery.
It is the largest cemetery in all of Paris, bosting nearly one hundred and twenty acres. It is believed to be the most widely visited resting place in the entire world.
Among some of the interred are included but not limited to: Balzac, the famous novelist; Bellini, an Italian composer; Sarah Bernhardt; Chopin; Colette; Marcel Marceau, the famous mime; Moliere; and even Jim Morrison, famed lead singer of the Doors.
These are but a handful of the famous names you can find in this gorgeous cemetery, which is absolutely rife with history and even intrigue.
